Safety
Safety is important to us at Visy, and we are firmly committed to manufacturing our products in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible way. Our Safety Policy outlines the measures we have put in place to ensure our employees, contractors and visitors are not exposed to harm as part of our operations.
Standards
Visy has a documented HSE management system that comprises 13 management standards, which are all underpinned by a comprehensive range of procedures and processes. The purpose of this is simply to ensure that every Visy employee, manager and contractor is able to understand and fulfil their health, safety and environment responsibilities.
Safety Plan
Visy develops and communicates a safety plan every year, and reviews this plan on a regular basis. The 2011/2012 Safety Plan is based on embedding the systems, standards and codes of practice that have been produced and implemented over the last two years.
There are 6 key pillars that drive our Safety Plan:

- Fit-for-purpose equipment
- Safe systems of work
- Controlled work environment
- Contractor management
- Workers compensation and injury management
Workers Compensation and Injury Management
We believe it's our duty to help prevent injury or illness by providing a safe and healthy work environment. On top of this, we endeavour to minimise any personal, social and economic consequences of workplace incidents through our Return to Work process. This means anyone who has suffered from a workplace injury or illness will be placed in suitable positions as part of their return to their pre-injury duties.
Get Tuff on Safety
Visy's 'Get Tuff on Safety' campaign, a follow-on from our Safe Production campaign, was designed to emphasise the importance of people behaving safely in the workplace. To ensure that safety stays front of mind, we introduced our safety ambassador Tuff the dog. He is there as a 'watchdog' to remind all employees, contractors and visitors how important safety and leadership is at all times.
Safety campaigns are run each year, helping to maintain our focus on safe production and behaviours at work and reinforce our key safety messages.
